August Events & Orientation
Are you ready to come to campus?
Check the previous months’ task lists – By May 31, By June 30, By July 31 – to make sure you’ve completed all tasks and enrollment requirements. This month, you’ll have the opportunity to attend special first-year events, move into your new WPI residence, and participate in New Student Orientation activities. We’re excited to welcome you to campus.
WPI offers two pre-orientation programs for subsets of our incoming students.
- Move-In Day – August 16
- Pre-Orientation – August 17–August 19

All inquiries for the Connections Program can be forwarded to firstname.lastname@example.org or call Leslie at 508.831.5796.
International students are required to attend pre-orientation starting August 17. You will learn more about this program early in the summer, typically when the I-20 form is sent. If you do not hear about the program by mid-July, please contact the International House at 508.831.6030.
Connections is a pre-orientation program for underrepresented students. Invitations will go out to eligible students by mid-June.
Whether or not you participate in these pre-orientation programs, all students should plan to attend new student orientation starting August 20.
New Student Move-In Day – The First Day of New Student Orientation
Welcome to Campus!
The Campus Center, Residential Services and Student Activities staff, along with current WPI students, is already planning for your arrival as a member of the Class of 2021. Move-in begins at 9 am on Sunday, August 20. Be sure to label your belongings clearly with your name and room number, because members of WPI fraternities and sororities will be here to assist with unloading and carrying your items.
Important Dates – All New Students and Parents
Once you move-in:
- Pick up your ID and room key in residence halls
- Connect all your technology to the WPI network
- Take a tour of the campus and begin finding your way around
- Enjoy a bite to eat with mom and dad
- Don’t worry about unpacking until later!
Once you are settled and registered for orientation, we will direct you to the remainder of the day’s activities and events.

New Student Orientation
College Life Begins!
During orientation, you’ll have the opportunity to acclimate to campus and ease into college life. You’ll get to know your roommates and the campus, its history and traditions, as well as learn about academic, social, and co-curricular life at WPI. You’ll meet upperclassmen, faculty, and staff who are anxious to welcome you and help you as you become a member of the WPI community!
