As a first-year student, you will be required to register for your classes using an online course registration process. This process occurs twice during the year—in June-July for fall semester registration, and in December for spring semester registration. Each semester consists of two seven-week terms, referred to as A and B-term in the fall, and C and D-term in the spring.
There are six steps in the registration process as follows:
You will begin your course registration process on Step 1 by watching a brief video introduction and viewing WPI’s course registration timeline.
Step 2 provides an overview of WPI’s academic year and general degree requirements, as well as a guide to understanding course labels and descriptions.
Step 3 describes several courses offered exclusively for first year students at WPI, including unique courses that provide an introduction to project work, blend history and science, and focus on healthy lifestyles and career exploration.
In step 4, you will select and use your Course Planning Worksheet, a tool that provides guidance on courses you should take during your first year at WPI based on your intended major and math placement and AP/IB test results.
In step 5, you will use the Schedule Planner to view courses being offered and identify available courses that fit in your schedule and meet your major and general degree requirements.
In step 6, you will watch a brief tutorial on WPI’s course registration system and then register online for the courses you plan to take.
